Kanye West: “I am Picasso…”
During a recent concert in Paris, he offered:
“I am Picasso. I am Michelangelo. I am Basquiat. I am Walt Disney. I am Steve Jobs.”

In the book, I classify West as a Delusional Asshole, on the grounds that he’s not (so I say) talented in the way Picasso was. Is that right?
Well, West’s latest claim is at very least pretty presumptuous.
The matter of one’s own talent is usually and best left for history to judge. Most people happily do so, for fear of being wildly in error, for lack of proper perspective. West on the other hand rushes into judgment, headlong. There are always risks of being wrong, but West betrays no sense of them. If he’s sincere and convinced, he’s also foolish.
And if history fails to be as kind (as I’m guessing it will), then it is also true, even now, that he’s delusional.
